From the outside looking in...

So there's a well known quote that I like to use to describe what it's like to be an Aggie...

From the outside looking in, you can't understand it.  From the inside looking out, you can't explain it.

So good luck to me as I try to explain Aggie Ring Day to all of my non-Aggie friends... :)

On Friday, we traveled to College Station to be with my brother as he picked up his Aggie ring.  To Aggies, it's almost more important to get your ring than your diploma.  Definitely more exciting.  That ring is a symbol of a lot of hard work and dedication and also serves as a symbol identifying you as an Aggie to the rest of the world.  All it takes is a quick glance at a hand to see you're in the presence of a fellow Aggie and a conversation can be struck up like you're old friends.  That's just how it is.  I really can't explain it.

The campus was rocking with spirit and excitement when we got to the Alumni center.  Ross headed in to get his ring with our parents and his fiancé girlfriend while my family and my sister's family walked around outside and got our rings polished. :)  After he got his ring (WHOOP!!) we took some pictures and walked around the MSC and campus.  We had lunch together and then went our separate ways so the kids could nap and Ross and my parents could get things ready for his party that night.  We took the kids to my in laws house so the babies could sleep and the girls could play and swim.

It's Aggie tradition to dunk your ring.  Most people drop it in a pitcher of beer and drink the beer to get to the ring.  Obviously we don't follow this tradition since we don't drink, but we still had a party!  Ross's friends came over for food and fun and Ross dunked his ring in a pitcher of root beer that he downed in 28 seconds.  I'm thinking he was pretty sick for the next 24 hours. :)

I didn't have my camera or phone with me on campus so here are a few pictures we took at Ross's house.  We thankfully have added a photographer to the family...Lexi took lots of pictures of the day!

 

My parents are super proud of their 3 children....a complete set of Aggie rings now exists in our family :)

A few other perks of the weekend...Kristin and Dylan were in town visiting so we got to see them...yay!! Dylan and Ellisyn are just a few weeks apart so it was fun to let them play together.

Two, while we were on campus, we ran into Trey Williams, only my favorite Aggie football player.  I was so excited.  He was super nice and took a picture with us and are very very tired girls.
